It is knowing how much we want to participate and how involved we want to be to obtain  what we choose.  There are business, family, hobbies, goals and the many other components that make up the puzzle of our lives. It is not about how much time we give to each person or activity that we decide to be a part of.  It is about how present we are in the moment that we are there.  How involved we are with what we are doing.

Lots of time spent in an activity will yield little, if there is not a real connection with:

  • ourselves
  • the activity
  • other people
  • being actually present at the time we are participating.

Successful in life, overall success, comes about from the totality of all the activities that we are involved in.

Life is like a puzzle.  It takes all the pieces fitting together to create a complete picture.  We tend to compartmentalize our lives by having different boxes that we slot things into.  We have a family box, a business box, a social box.  People work hard at trying to keep their boxes separate, not realizing that the success, enjoyment, satisfaction, disappointments, and concerns can’t help but spill over and affect all the areas in our lives.  Real success in life comes about by having an awareness that it takes all areas of our lives working together to create a successful life. The puzzle is not complete until all the pieces are smoothly interlocked in place and working together to form a complete picture.

The game to play in is whatever game really captures our interest at the time and fits well into our overall plan for success in life.  We stack the deck in our favor when we view what we do from the perspective of how everything works together and affects each other.

We bring ourselves to work, to our businesses every day.

If we do, or don’t have a good morning before we leave the house it has an impact on us.  The mood we leave the house with will be our side kick as we sit down for our first meeting of the day, and throughout the day.  No matter how well we think we compartmentalize what went on before we left the house, if we look carefully we will see the issue, the incident  popping up in our minds throughout our day.  We will find ourselves thinking about what could have been done differently, about what went wrong, or right   Just a simple thought might pop up about how we wish things could have gone differently or that we might have stayed longer to talk more.  Each time, although we catch ourselves in thoughts and move quickly away from the issue, but it is still back there in the background providing a bit of unease,  This continues to provide a feeling that keeps us from being fully present in our day. If we are not fully present we are not giving or receiving the most from what we are doing.

The key to success in life is to realize that each situation affects the other and working at making things flow harmoniously together is a necessity not an option when we want to achieve success in life.
